As the new planning Director of the Canton of Zurich wants to change

Mr Neukom, peilten as a green government candidate for the building Department. Now you've done it – satisfied?
Martin Neukom: Yes, I am very satisfied. I said in the election campaign, I wanted to reach the climate protection something, and I can most likely in the building Department. My goal is that the Canton of Zürich in this area forward.

avoid the term "pioneer Canton".
First of all, we need to catch up actually. In the future I would like to but out of Zurich a pioneer of Canton in climate protection. I can't promise that but. This, too, is not in a single legislature.

How much will it cost?
it is Important to me that climate protection measures not only cost, but economically positive effects. They are intended to give impulses for new developments.

What are your other priorities?
The sounds now, maybe unspectacular, but enormously important in the Directorate: The reorganization of real estate management. This I have already accompanied in the cantonal Parliament, the Commission and is, therefore, important, because what we have here is a large lever in terms of the efficient use of our buildings, parks. If we need 1 or 2 per cent less area, we can save several million Swiss francs annually.

Speaking of Immobilienamt: Could you transplant this in a different Directorate to the huge public works corners off?
The building Department is indeed great. In this case, the existing interface problems would be transported, however, only in a different Directorate.

Other priorities?
I see in the field of nature protection and particularly the protection of species of catching up to do. Here I want to get it over with, because the species is loss irreparable. And we don't know the impact on the environment, if a species disappears.

what are your first atmospheric impressions in the government?
I have a very good feeling and the impression that we are living on the human level. This is a good basis for a good policy.

What do you say, that the building Department is prized as a key Directorate?
Honestly, it annoys me a bit. There is no Key directorates and unimportant. That would mean that, for example, the Directorate of Health is unimportant. These implements but in the billions each year. In addition, the evaluation will change all the time. Four years ago, the financial Directorate as a key Directorate was called. All directorates are important.
